The Idea of a University
Tony Jeffs discusses an important inspiration for his work and thinkng, the 1852 book 'The idea of the University' by John Henry Newman. Jeffs argues that 'Opponents may dismiss Newman as a naysayer, a worrywart whose views are passé, but for those desirous of a sector founded upon something more nuanced than the cash nexus Newman provides a rich seam of ideas'.
